The top teeth are done!

So today I went into Dr. Lynskey’s office and got my last top attachments removed. It feels so nice having them off! I also got my final retainer for my top teeth and a last aligner for my bottom teeth. Dr. Lynskey also gave me a supply of whitening strips so I’m excited to use those. I can’t wait until my bottom teeth are nice and straight! . I also made a mold for a bottom retainer. Dr. Lynskey talked with my mom and I about the different kinds of retainers and then I picked out the color I wanted. After three weeks of my bottom aligners I’ll get my new retainer and wear that instead. After I made impressions for my retainer my appointment was over and I went home with my final set of aligners! One more appointment scheduled and I will be finished with my aligners!

And finally…my lower teeth

Today at my appointment with Dr. Lynskey I was getting my new sets of aligners. When I arrived, I tried on my new aligners and discovered that no new bottom aligners were there. My bottom teeth aren’t perfectly straight yet, so my mom asked Dr. Lynskey about the missing aligners. She said that Invisalign hadn’t made any, so I had to retake bottom impressions. Not only were they taking impressions for new aligners, but also for a temporary retainer they could make right at the office that would keep my teeth in place while I was waiting for my aligners to arrive. The new retainer would be done the following day. After the impressions, Dr. Lynskey quickly drilled off one my attachments, and put two new ones on. The attachments I now have are on my upper molars, so they’re not noticeable to anyone accept me. After the new attachments were put on, my appointment was over and I went home with my new aligners.

Making My Teeth Perfect

Today I went in for an appointment with Dr. Lynskey. I was done with my last set of aligners, so I was eager to what she had to say. Once Dr. Lynskey looked at my teeth, she told me there were a few last adjustments she wanted to make. These last adjustments required more aligners, so they made some more impressions. Because the new aligners would take 4-6 weeks to arrive, I had to continue wearing my last set of aligners until my new ones came. Before leaving, Dr. Lynskey took my bottom aligner and cut it so it just covered my front 6 teeth. This new smaller version of my aligner was different, but not a drastic change. Once my aligner had been shortened, my appointment was over and it was time to leave

So close!

I had another appointment today, and it was easy and went by quickly. At first I got my next three sets of Invisalign, which are also my last three. Dr. Lynskey told me that after these three sets of aligners we’d check back in and she’d make the final adjustments to my teeth. It was exciting to hear that I’m almost finished with the Invisalign process. After I got my next aligners, Dr. Lynskey took this small piece of paper and used it to floss between my teeth. It felt like sandpaper. She said she was using it to create some room for each tooth to move to where they need to be. It was kind of uncomfortable but it only lasted for a little while. After this, my appointment was over and I got to go home.

My New Refinement Aligners

Today I had an appointment with Dr. Lynskey after not having any new Invisalign for a month. At my last appointmnet I had more impressions made for the new aligners.  Dr Lynskey told me that the refinement aligners would be the same but that Invisalign had changed some things.  That the attachments might be different.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I was excited to get my new aligners so my teeth could continue to make more progress. At the beginning of my appointment, I asked what was going to happen today. Dr. Lynskey told me I’d be getting my new aligners, and I’d be getting attachments back on.  I learned I’d only be getting three attachments put on, and they were new and almost completely invisible. I also found at these aligners are sharper, so they caused some discomfort at first. I disregarded this and didn’t think much of it. After I got my new aligners and attachments on, I left and went home. One I sat down to dinner, I realized the new attachments were definately sharper. Basically every other bite of food I took, I ended up biting my lip. I was really worried about this. Eventually I got used to the attachments and it wasn’t a problem. -Lilly

My last aligners!

So today I went in for another appointment at Dr. Lynskey’s office and it was just the usual. They asked how my Invisalign was working, if I was having any problems, and then I received my new sets of aligners. The exciting thing about this appointment was that I got the last sets of aligners, meaning my teeth should be close to the end of their treatment. I was told that although these were my last aligners, more might have to be made in order to fully perfect my teeth. I wasn’t that upset by this because in the end I just want my teeth to be perfect and I’m willing to wait longer if that’s what it takes. After I got my aligners my appointment was all finished and I got to go home.

The End is Near!

So the other day I went in for an appointment with Dr. Lynskey to pick up another set up of aligners. Every set of aligners lasts two weeks and then I switch to a new set. This time I picked up four different set of aligners, so they’ll last me the next 8 weeks. What really excited me about this visit to Dr. Lynskey’s office was that they let me know that in 8 weeks I’d be done with my Invisalign treatment. Although Dr. Lynskey always does little refinements at the end, it was exciting to hear that in just a few months, my teeth would be perfect. The actual appointment was pretty regular, they asked how my teeth were doing, asked if I had any questions, and then gave me my new sets of aligners. I can’t wait to my teeth are all nice and straight! -Lilly

P.S. Dr Lynskey took some pictures for you to see my progress.  If you look really close you can see the attachments on my teeth.

Moving Along Quickly!

So the other day I had another appointment with Dr. Lynskey so I could pick up a new set of aligners. While I was there, she gave me the aligners numbered 7, 8, 9, and 10. I opened up the package for week 10 and realized that by then, my teeth would be almost completely straight. One question my mom and I both had was about my teeth and how much they’d already moved. It’s hard to see just by looking in the mirror, so Dr. Lynskey showed us the pictures of my teeth when I first started with Invisalign. I was in shock. My teeth had moved so much in the past months. Dr. Lynskey also showed us a video of how my teeth would continue to move and then what they’d eventually look like. It was cool to see how much farther I had to go and how far my teeth had already come. After that they checked my teeth and just made sure everything looked right, and then we were done.

I got my invisalign!!!

Hey, this is Lilly and I just got my Invisalign for the first time. Basically they quickly showed me how to take them in and out and when I got the hang of it I put them in. It just felt like there was a slight pressure on my teeth and they felt really smooth. Right after that my mom and I walked over and got to watch a movie that showed how my teeth would change. It was like a picture of my jaw and teeth on the screen and slide by slide I was able to see how my teeth would change and what they would eventually look like. It was really interesting and gave me a good idea of how everything was going to play out. Then we were all done and I went home with my Invisalign. Dr. Lynskey had mentioned that my teeth might be sore for the next couple of days, so I was prepared for that. When I woke up the next morning I took my Invisalign out for a couple of minutes and there was some soreness, but it wasn’t as bad as I had expected. After a couple of days, my mouth was no longer sore and I often completely forgot I had my Invisalign in because I just couldn’t tell. -Lilly

Day 1: Getting Fitted

Hey there,

My name is Lilly and I’m getting Invisalign in just a couple of weeks. The reason I got Invisalign is because I really don’t want to have to deal with braces and the hassle that comes with them.  The other day I went and got molds made of my teeth so the Invisalign will fit right.  When we first got to Dr. Lynskey’s office my mom signed a bunch of papers and I got some x-rays done. Next, they pressed some sticky white stuff onto my teeth.  At first when they put it on it felt kind of like toothpaste or gum but when they told me to open my mouth it had hardened and it was actually tough to open my mouth.  The assistant Kim told me this was to make sure the mold of my top teeth and the mold of my bottom teeth would fit together the way I bite.  Weird!  Then they made the molds of my top and bottom teeth with some sticky green stuff.   It was pretty nasty tasting but after I washed my mouth out it was all good. Now I just have to wait (as long as 6 weeks!)  before the Invisalign is actually ready. That’s the hardest part…I’m really excited for it to get here and I hope it comes really soon!
